Meetings at local schools are being held in an informal consultation on the ‘Learning Works’ - the vision to transform education, learning, skills and training in Blaenau Gwent.
Funding totalling £86 million has been approved in principle by the Welsh Assembly Government for the project - without prejudice to the outcome of the consultation.
Parents, pupils, teachers, governors and staff are taking part in the meetings and giving their views.
A booklet with information about Blaenau Gwent Council’s proposals for ‘Learning Works’ – the plan to build new learning centres for all ages at The Works: Ebbw Vale - is available online at www.blaenau-gwent.gov.uk
The ‘Learning Works’ project includes proposals for new 21st century buildings for primary and secondary education, a replacement special school and an integrated children’s centre. Also included are plans for the ‘Learning Zone’ – an integrated learning centre that could provide both vocational and academic education, training and skills for anyone aged 16 and over - a leisure centre and a performing arts centre.
