Blaenau Gwent Council’s Market Hall Cinema at Brynmawr is restored
24 June 2009
Lights, camera, action - the restoration of the much-loved Market Hall Cinema in Brynmawr was celebrated at a special film night.
£208,000 of public investment – most of it from the Welsh Assembly Government - helped restore the façade of the Blaenau Gwent Council cinema in 1920s style. “Modernisation” from the 1970s were done away with.
Coun Des Hillman, Leader of Blaenau Gwent Council, said:
“The restoration of the cinema has given Brynmawr town centre a real boost – it’s an important part of our town centre regeneration work.”
