School choirs and a Samba band will entertain the crowds at this year’s switching on of the Christmas lights in Ebbw Vale.
Dai Davies, Member of Parliament for Blaenau Gwent, will perform the official switch-on at 5.15pm on Thursday 27 November 2008, outside the Woolworth store in Bethcar Street.
From 3.30pm there will be performances from Pontygof Primary and Glyncoed Comprehensive school choirs, Ebbw Vale Council of Churches choir and the Communities First youth team Samba Du Menea band.
Father Christmas will be handing out goodies from 4pm.
Due to the improvement works currently taking place in the town centre the lights will run from the Wetherspoon’s pub to Barnardo’s charity shop.
