Book In For A Health Check At Your Blaenau Gwent Library

21 March 2008

‘You and your health’ – Blaenau Gwent Council’s scheme for people to get a health check at their local library – is back.

A new round of health monitoring sessions starts in the six libraries next month.
Blaenau Gwent Council’s Active Living Team will be joining library staff for seven sessions in the second week of April – with the first one at Ebbw Vale Library on Monday 7 April.

The first round of the ‘You and your health’ went so well that the campaign is now going to run throughout 2008. A week of sessions will be held every month for the rest of the year. (See below for details of venues and times.)

Blood pressure, body mass, lung capacity and body fat will all be monitored by qualified health practitioners at every health check – in just the same way as happens at every GP clinic.

Library staff can help by finding out information on any aspects of health. Customers can also log on to carefully vetted websites on topics like blood pressure and weight loss using at library IT desks.

‘You and your health’ sessions will be held at all six libraries and at Llanhilleth Institute.  The days, times and venues for the April sessions are below. The schedule will be exactly the same right up to December 2008 – with sessions being held in the second week only of every month (so one session a month at each venue).
